Find a spiritually aware counsellor near you and start your journey to wholeness.
P.S. We use therapist/counsellor/counselor and therapy/counselling interchangably

Search for the type of Christian therapist near you that you want to see. This ‘type’ typically refers to the approach or faith-based or Christian worldview of the therapist. Or you can search for a Community Counselling Centre that will offer a broad range of counselling and therapeutic services normally at an affordable pricing scale.
If you have approved location access on your browser or phone, then all search results will be listed closest to your location.
For example; Pastoral, Christian, Community or Spiritual Director
Search for the type of challenge you need support with that is near you. Therapists tend to ‘specialise’ in certain areas of support. Verified therapists have the option to update their listings with their areas of speciality.
If you have approved location access on your browser or phone, then all search results will be listed closest to your location.
For example; anxiety, grief, trauma, GBV, PTSD, relational, family etc.
Once you have performed a search you can refine your search results. This will allow you to narrow your search to counsellors that meet your requirements.
For example; payment options, age specialty, types of therapeutic approaches
The wording of this question is not helpful.
Community counsellors are professionals in that they maintain a high standard of practice and should be registered with a professional oversight body.
However, community counsellors are not medical professionals. Medical professionals such as Registered Counsellors, Social Workers, Psychiatrists and Psychologists are registered with the Health Professional Counsel of South Africa (HPCSA). Community Counsellors can not register with the HPCSA and therefore have to function strictly within their scope of practice.
Many community counsellors are registered with professional oversight bodies such as the Council for Pastoral and Spiritual Counsellors (CPSC) or the Association for Supportive Counsellors and Holistic Practitioners (ASCHP).
If a counsellors is registered, CFW will verify the registration with the professional body and list their registration number.
All therapists/counsellors who have claimed their listings are vetted by Therapist Near Me (TNM). The following information is verified:
However, once verified the therapist has full control over the details of their practice. TNM cannot verify the validity of the scope of practice, nor their pricing models, nor their effectiveness, ethical standards or the modalities employed in their practice. Clients should proceed with caution and insist on obtaining a written contract of engagement that explains their ethical code, confidentiality and business practices
This distinction tends to refer to the approach or worldview that the counsellor has to the therapy. It is not helpful to think of these types as ‘right or wrong’ but rather what aligns to your needs.
Although all counsellors here might call themselves Christian, their approach might vary.
Below is a brief description of each, however, you should clarify this with any counsellor you wish to see.
I realise that it can be confusing, but the terms Christian/Biblical/Pastoral used here refer to an approach used in counselling and not in their more usual sense.
– Biblical Counsellors tend to view the Bible as fully authoritative in matters of counselling and steer away from modern psychological approaches.
– Christian Counsellors tend to offer an integrative approach to counselling. Integrating Biblical principles with modern psychological approaches.
– Community Counsellors can follow either the Biblical or Christian Counselling approach but often offer their services on a donation basis to the community they serve.
– Pastoral Counsellors tend to specialise more in a proactive supportive role. Going towards people with specific needs.
Community Counselling Centres are non-profit organisations (NPOs) that offer free (donation-based) counselling to the community in which they function.
These centres make use of trained volunteers who can follow various therapeutic (Biblical or Christian) approaches to counselling.
